The alarm went off at 7 AM, not 5, but I managed to be dressed and out the door by 7:30. I was hungry, hot, and thirsty, but I ran 3ish miles in 31ish minutes. Without my Garmin. (Because it is Thursday and I promised I would run without it). It was probably 3.1 or 3.2 actually. I tried to make it uncomfortable for Sam, which wasn't very hard because it was already uncomfortable without any extra effort by me. But I did throw in a fartlek which turned into a 400 when I tried to hang onto the discomfort. I made it home in time to shower, eat, and get to the gym.
Here's my strength workout. It was a killer. As usual. I think my trainer is really trying to kill me.
unilateral single leg squats. 10 each leg. x 1 (warmup)
jumprope (100) SS assisted pullups (15) x 4
stepups on plyo box (10 each leg) SS lat pulldowns (20 lbs) x 4
unilateral bicep curls (10 lb dumbell) 15 each leg x 4
unilateral military press (10 lb dumbell) 10 each leg x 4
pikes w/ feet on stability ball (10) SS pushups (15) x 3 This is where I think he was trying to kill me. I'm curled up in a heap on the floor and he's telling me to "Do another set." or "Hold your naval in. Natalie! I said hold your core in!" Sheesh! Have some pity on me please!
Now the heat is on. Aaron (my trainer) seems to be of the opinion, that in honor of running the NYC marathon, I should set my sights on a faster time. That's a nonrunner for you. Full of idealism. "Just hook up with people faster than you and stay with them."
Ok Aaron. I'll do that.
